Type Locality and Naming

Type section at Tongshan, west of Luohe river, Nenjiang County, Heilongjiang Province. Named by Compiling Group for Heilongjiang Regional Stratigraphic Scale, 1979, Regional Stratigraphic Scale of Northeast China: Heilongjiang Province, Beijing: Geological Publishing House. First appeared in a 1977 manuscript by No.2 Element of No.1 Heilongjiang Regional Geological Survey Team.

Synonym: Synonymous with Halahalahe Fm; Homonymous with Tungshan Fm. Confusingly, it was also used as a synonym for the Tangshan Fm (which is Carboniferous)


Lithology and Thickness

Grayish green, dark gray, grayish yellow tuffaceous sandstone, slate, with interbeds of arkose and rudite.
